Who Becomes a Surrogate?
The first misconception is that a women who decides to become a surrogate does it solely because of the money or that it’s “easy money”. What has become clear is that having a baby for someone else is about way more than money, it’s about family and love. Surrogacy Solutions Inc, like all reputable agencies, don’t accept women who are only motivated by the money or who are below the poverty line. This is for a few reasons: women below the poverty level are at greater risk for health concerns and complications, and they probably do not have medical insurance.
Our surrogates, who already have had children of their own, come to us because they love children, they want to help people who cannot have them and they are motivated by giving the ultimate gift, family.
The second misconception is that a woman who decides to become a surrogate is desperate. That could not be further than the truth. Our surrogates are on average between 28 and 30 years old, she is married, has children of her own, lives in a small town or suburb, she works part-time and might have some college education but didn’t complete college to receive a degree. Some are military wives and some are single. We have found that our surrogates who are married have husbands who support their decisions to become a surrogate, and she has health insurance.
If this seems to fit you and you’ve thought about becoming a surrogate to give the gift of family, we would love to talk with you. And if you’d like to become a surrogate and you don’t have health insurance, we encourage you to apply for Affordable Health Care. 2020 Open Enrollment Period runs from Friday, November 1 to Sunday, December 15, 2019.
